SBU cyber experts warn of fake news on coronavirus spread over social networks - UNIAN
Cyber experts ask citizens to beware of any unverified reports. The SBU Security Service of Ukraine record a spread of fake news related to coronavirus in Ukraine, as UNIAN reported.
"A fresh example is the rumors of an overnight spraying of disinfectant chemicals from a helicopter over the capital city of Kyiv," the SBU press service wrote on Twitter on March 16, 2020. As reported by the SBU on Telegram, fake reports urge citizens to close windows and stay at home from 23:00 to 05:00. "We advise you to beware of any unverified information. We understand very well the purpose of posting such nonsense on social networks," reads the report.
"We are sure our country will pass this difficult period safely. And those who want to destabilize the situation will surely find themselves in a special focus of the SBU's Department of Counterintelligence Protection of State Interests in Information Security," the SBU added. As reported earlier, experts in the U.S. raised alarm over Russia's coordinated effort in spreading disinformation about the coronavirus, targeting American audiences.
