IMI mini grant competition begins: 120 media outlets to receive funding for energy equipment
The Institute of Mass Information (IMI) is announcing a competition for media outlets to receive mini grants for puchasing the necessary energy equipment. The competition is organized with the support of the UK Department for Development, Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. The IMI will be able to provide funding to 120 applicants.
The IMI is announcing mini grants for media outlets to provide them with alternative energy sources in response to Russian strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The initiative aims to support reliable and independent news coverage even during an energy crisis.
Ukrainian media outlets, national as well as local or hyperlocal, can apply. Media outlets registered as NGOs, LLCs, PEs, etc., as well as private entrepreneurs, will be able to receive funding if they provide documents confirming the ties between the private entrepreneur and the media outlet they plan to spend the money received for. Such ties can be confirmed with a screenshot from the National Council website listing the private entrepreneur as a beneficiary or founder of the editorial office, etc.
The maximum amount of financial assistance is 1.500 British pounds in hryvnia equivalent.
Grant money can be spent on:
- generators;
- power stations;
- power banks;
- other necessary energy equipment.
Applicants must complete the online form.
Deadline for submitting applications: 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, January 19.
Please note:
- the IMI competition offers funding for purchasing equipment, not the equipment itself;
- the grantee is responsible for paying taxes on the grant funds received.
Grantees must purchase the necessary equipment and report on the spending by March 9.
