russians threaten "Volyn Online" with interrogations and imprisonment
The editorial office of Volyn Online has received new threats from russia about interrogations and imprisonment. This is the 19th russian-language letter sent to the editorial team.
This was reported to IMI representative in Volyn region by "Volyn Online" editor Maryana Metelska.
According to her, on June 10, the website received a letter in russian from an unknown user "Valeriy Naumov" with the following content:
"The Investigative Committee of russia has opened a criminal case against all employees of your publication. The case was instituted under the 'Extremism' article of the Criminal Code. All your contacts and personal details have been submitted to russian authorities. After the russian army occupies the settlements where you live and work, you will face third degree interrogations and imprisonment. You can testify in the case and avoid this punishment if you resign from the media you work for right now."
On June 6, the editorial office received a letter suggesting that the current government was not going to stay in power for long and that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was allegedly fleeing the country. In addition, the email threatened the editors with accountability under the laws of the russian federation for the content they publish.
Earlier, the "Volyn Online" editorial office received threats of prosecution for spreading "lies about the actions of the russian armed forces."
