Russian propaganda channel RT France closes down
Russian propaganda TV channel RT France closed down due to its bank accounts being frozen.
French TV channel BFMTV reported this, citing a statement by RT editor-in-chief Ksenia Fedorova, "European Pravda" writes.
"After five years of effort, the authorities succeeded in closing down RT France. [...] The Treasury Department decided to freeze RT France's bank accounts, which makes it impossible to continue our work," Fedorova said.
The channel has been banned from broadcasting in the EU ever since the start of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, along with other Kremlin-controlled media outlets, but RT France has continued to produce content from its Paris office and broadcast it to countries where the channel was not banned, such as the francophone parts of Africa.
As IMI reported, on January 19, France froze the funds of the Kremlin's propaganda channel RT France.
On March 2, 2022, the EU urgently stopped the broadcasting of russian state media Sputnik and RT / Russia Today in the European Union in response "to Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine."
