russian cybercriminals launched a massive attack on satellite infrastructure during russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. This was reported by AIN.ua with reference to Reuters.

A digital attack on Viasat's KA-SAT network led to tens of thousands of modems going offline at the start of the war. KA-SAT provided communications to the Ukrainian army and police.

According to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, cited by the media, the attack was aimed at destroying Ukraine's efforts to command and control troops. And these hacker attacks have had a significant impact on European countries. After all, because of them, problems with satellite communication were observed not only in Ukraine, but in some neighboring EU member states.

The attack was quite serious, as the equipment that was hit in its course sometimes had to be replaced manually.

russian hackers are not only attacking Viasat equipment. According to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, they are constantly trying to attack Starlink equipment. It is used not only by the Ukrainian army, but also by civilian infrastructure, hospitals, communications engineers, volunteers, and government departments.

"Starlink is resisting the attempts to break in and jam the signal, but they (russian hackers – Ed.) are stepping up their efforts," Musk wrote.
