russian hackers are sending emails posing as the SBU National Academy – SSSC
russian hackers are mass mailing malicious letters to private addresses with the subjects "Information Bulletin" and "Combat Order," posing as the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine.
This was reported by the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.
Opening the attachments in the emails will eventually lead to the launch of the GammaLoad.PS1_v2 malware on the computer.
The attack is associated with the UAC-0010 (Armageddon) group. This russian FSB's hacker group is among the ones that have been actively attacking the critical information infrastructure of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale military invasion.
At the same time, the SSSC notes that cybercriminals usually make use of topics that are painful for Ukrainians. For example, in May, during a similar attack, Armageddon members exploited the topic of occupied Kherson.
As IMI reported, on July 25, the SSSC reported mass mailing with the aim of data theft. The attack is associated with the UAC-0041 group (russian hacktivists).
