25.11.2013, 13:23

The corporation «Radio Free Europe /Radio Liberty» became a victim of DDoS attack. The cyber attack has been on since Thursday, November 14, and because of this interruptions of work of multimedia and information services are possible, Radio Liberty informs.

As the president of «Radio Free Europe /Radio Liberty» Kevin Klose informed, the authorized departments continue collecting data about the DDoS attack’s source.

«We decided to tell about this because our audience relies on the work of Radio Free Europe /Radio Liberty and sometimes faces problems just because of listening to us every day», Klose emphasized.

The content management system of Radio Free Europe /Radio Liberty also supports the operation of Voice of America, and broadcasting services to the Near East and Cuba, the international media networks, which also suffered due to the actions of perpetrators.

Presently, the technical staff of RFE/RL, in cooperation with international experts, tries to isolate the source of the attack and to stop the interruptions.

The corporation president Kevin Klose called the actions of perpetrators a proof of existence of «challenges that free access to information is facing in this century».

In 2008, DDoS attack was used against the Belorussian office of Radio Liberty.
