Stefanishyna: EU partners made preliminary decisions to fund programs in Ukraine instead of USAID
European partners have already made preliminary decisions on funding programs in Ukraine that used to be implemented with funds from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Ukrinform quotes Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine and Minister of Justice of Ukraine, as saying during a conversation with journalists.
She added that talks with European partners on financing programs previously implemented by USAID are ongoing. In particular, representatives of the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, as well as the Ministry of Justice have held meetings to discuss the most critical programs.
“There are preliminary decisions as to where such urgent funding can be allocated. These are reconstruction, energy sustainability, cyber defense. But we also expect that the European Commission, together with the G7 countries, will state their positions on resuming the work of competition commissions that select key members of the judicial chain of command in the coming days,” Stefanishyna said.
