Radio Liberty shows first footage of the UAF's counteroffensive near Bakhmut
Radio Liberty released a report on the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacking the enemy near Bakhmut. The Ukrainian military took control of a strip of land 200 to 2 kilometers deep into the front line.
The report was made by Maryan Kushnir, Serhiy Nuzhnenko and Victoria Makarova.
"Correspondents Maryan Kushnir and Serhiy Nuzhnenko not only attached chest cameras to the assault unit fighters, but were also with them as this was happening," the editors note.
The video shows the attack taking place and a captured Russian soldier speaking.
As IMI reported, RFE/RL journalists have repeatedly come under fire in the Donbas. On May 28, 2022, RFE/RL correspondent Maryan Kushnir and photographer Serhiy Nuzhnenko came under fire by Russian troops near Bakhmut. Journalists were filming a report about a Ukrainian counterattack, and the UAF positions were shelled by Russian artillery. On March 11, 2022, Maryan Kushnir suffered a concussion as a result of a Russian attack in Kyiv oblast.
