Police cannot find those who threaten and harass the Donetsk journalists

05.11.2013, 18:30

Police of Donetsk region cannot find those who threaten and harass the journalists from “Donbass News”, Oleksiy Matsuka and Vitaliy Sizov, Radio Svoboda informs.

For the context, Matsuka started receiving e-mails with threats, and his colleague Sizov noticed he was being followed. Unknown individuals broke into their office. They think all this is due to their professional activities, as the harassment started when the editorial office learned that they won grant support for two projects of theirs. These were a project of journalist investigations and a project to create a program about the LGBT community in Donetsk oblast. The journalists fear that the police will be unable to find the perpetrators.

In police they think that the case of “Donbass News” is a serious one, yet so far the police was unable to find the perpetrators, although they do everything they can. The head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Donetsk oblast, Igor Diomin, agreed about the “Donbass news” that the facts reported by the journalist actually happened. “We take the necessary measures to identify the perpetrators”, he said.
