Pension Fund thanks Slidstvo.Info for "fighting evil", fires employee exposed in their investigation

03.01.2025, 14:45

The Pension Fund sent a letter of thanks to Slidstvo.Info after their investigation exposed an employee of the fund for renting a new car for 4,000 hryvnias per month, reports the agency's director Anna Babinets, posting the letter.

“This is the first time that a state body is thanking Slidstvo.Info 'for its active citizenship in the fight against evil in such a difficult time for the state.' This is what the Pension Fund, whose employee we exposed renting a car at an undervalue, wrote to us.

"She had the luck of renting a brand new Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid for 4,000 hryvnias per month. She forgot to declare it, and did not answer our journalist’s questions,” Babinets wrote.

Anna Babinets said that a couple of days after the investigation "For Officials Only: The Brewery Company Renting Out Expensive Cars for a Penny" was released, they received a letter from the Pension Fund, where the investigation's main subject, Natalia Popelukha, worked. The department reported that Popelukha had been fired and the materials reported by Slidstvo.Info had been handed over to the police.

"This letter of thanks for 'figthing evil' from the Pension Fund is funny and inspiring at the same time. Who knows, maybe someday the the Office of the President will write us a similar letter,” Anna Babinets concluded.

As reported earlier, Oleksandr Hovorushchak, head of the first department of the SBI Department for Pre-Trial Investigation of Criminal Offenses Committed by Law Enforcement Officers and Judges, sued Slidstvo.Info journalists over an investigation into his relatives acquiring UAH 35 million worth of property.
