Pashayev left Crimea
The Crimean journalist Osman Pashayev, who was attacked by the so-called Crimean “community defence” and interrogated in the Investigative Department of the Republic of Crimea, left the peninsula. He does not believe the Crimea law enforcement agencies so he left to be able to address both the Office of the Prosecutor General in Ukraine and the Office of the Prosecutor General in Russia. He wants them to investigate who kidnaps journalists in Crimea, takes away their equipment and robs them, and then passes them to police who has no idea who brought them the journalists. He states that the peninsula’s laws do not work, Crimea is an “occupied territory” under a junta.
On May 18, Osman Pashayev was detained by the “community defence” together with the Turkish operator Dzhengiz Kyzgynim and several other journalists in downtown Simferopol. They were allowed to go after 10 hours. All their equipment was taken away from them.
