Over 100 million hacked accounts of "Vkontakte" users are listed for sale
Accounts of over 100 million users of the social network “Vkontakte” are listed for sale in the shadow sector of the Internet.
A hacker who calls himself Peace declared that he sells the data for 1 bitcoin (which is $570 currently). According to him, these accounts were hacked between 2011 and 2013.
The hacker also claims that he has access to another 71 million sets of personal data of users, but decided not to sell them yet.
The website LeakedSource that conducts monitoring of leaks, claims that during the verification of 100 randomly selected accounts, 92 turned out to be currently active.
Also, according to the LeakedSource, over 700 hundred hacked accounts had passwords “123456”. Passwords “QWERTY” and “123123” were frequent as well.
The administration of the social network “Vkontakte” denies that database of its users was hacked. As their press secretary Yevgeniy Krasnikov said, the issue in question is the old data base of logins and passwords that was gathered by the swindlers in 2011 and 2012.
The stolen information includes logins, passwords, phone numbers and e-mails of users.
