Odesa journalist Yuriy Dyachenko wounded in action for the second time within a month
Yuriy Dyachenko, journalist and public activist from Odesa who has been defending the country in the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces since the first days of Russia's invasion, was wounded in action again. He is currently in a hospital.
Dyachenko reported this to the regional representative of the IMI in the Odesa oblast.
According to him, he was wounded on January 17 while performing a combat mission.
As Yuriy said, this is the second injury he has suffered in less than a month. Prior to that, he received a shrapnel wound to the arm on November 8, 2023 and an acubarotrauma on December 19, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the south of Ukraine. This time Dyachenko has been wounded by shrapnel in the leg on January 17.
"I am currently in the hospital. They still can't get the fragment out of my leg. Some ammunition was dropped from enemy drones near me, and they couldn't get me out during the day, because I managed to take cover at the very last second. They did get me out in the evening. This is the second time that my leg takes damage. But the medics who evacuated us offered to stop by the casino on the way, that's how lucky we were, and not for the first time either," Yuriy Dyachenko said.
Before the full-scale war, he worked at the local Center for Public Investigations, was a correspondent for the newspaper "Zeleny Lyst" and the media outlet "Intent".
