Nine communities ignore query from Kropyvnytskyi media outlet

Nine Kirovohradska oblast communitites gave no response to the information query by the Kropyvnytskyi news outlet Format, which was asking the amounts of salaries and bonuses paid to community heads in January to October 2024.

The query was sent by the journalists in late November 2024, according to Format.

In a comment to Pavlo Lisnychenko, the regional representative of the Institute of Mass Information, editor Yuriy Leta said that the journalists submitted queries to 49 communities on November 25. Half of the local councils sent the queries back with a request to add the signature of the media outlet's editor and the sending date.

Format sent out the queries again on December 9, but nine communities have given no response to date.

“We planned to release an analysis of the percentage of bonuses paid, but this did not work out,” Yuriy Leta comments on the situation. “I actually thought that getting answers would be easier, but correspondence with the communities, citing the law, calling council apparatuses and in some cases community heads took a lot of time.”

The news outlet is planning to send out repeat queries to collect data on community heads' salaries and bonuses for the entire year 2024. If the letters are ignored again, the editorial team will contact the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
