Near Kyiv, when filming investigation, ZIK jounalists’ video camera was almost taken away from them

19.06.2014, 23:47

The journalists of the anti-corruption project «Nashi Hroshi» (Our Money) of the ZIK TV channel  faced obstruction to filming in the Olympic Village hotel near the village of Pidhirtsi in 26 km away from Kyiv. On June 17, the «Nashi Hroshi» special correspondent Alina Stryzhak and the camera operator Yehor Vorobiov were filming their investigation of activities of companies connected to the head of the South-Western Railway Oleksiy Kryvopishyn. They had information that Kryvopishyn’s daughter Maria launched a hotel on the territory of the railway trade union’s recreation facility.

When they went to check this facility, the staff confirmed that the hotel was owned by Kryvopishyn’s daughter but immediately called the security. The guards were very rude; they pushed the journalists, grabbed them, tried to take away the camera and insisted that it was a private territory. The filming crew called the police and got their camera back. As a matter of fact, the facility is located on the state-owned land.
