04.04.2017, 16:11

General Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv reported that Directorate is not a legal successor of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kyiv, and therefore has no information on offenses made by Yuri Krysin at a time while he was under house arrest and state protection. This Directorate reported on the journalists' request, "Dostup do pravdy" reports with referring to the public initiative "Media Initiative for Human Rights".

Journalists appealed to the National Police due to the fact that Yuri Krysin suspected in involvement to the murder of journalist Viacheslav Veremiya and committed two crimes during 2015-2016. During this time he allegedly, was under the 24/7 security by police officers.

First, the National Police said that the information requested relates to internal use only. However, after complaints to Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the police reported that the requested information was in the possession of the Main Department of the Internal Affairs, which is currently in a state of suspension, and that the Department of the National police is not the successor of the Minstry of Internal Affairs.
