National regulator to seize court to revoke licenses of ZIK and “112 Ukraina”
The National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting is going to seize court with acclaim asking to revoke licenses of ZIK and “112 Ukraina”. Such decision was made by the regulator at the meeting on February 12, as “Detekor Media” reported.
The National Council found that both channels did not provide all the necessary documents (in particular, copies of broadcast line-up) during several inspections. So, it was not possible to compare the monitoring information with the broadcasting grid. Such actions, the regulator considered as intentional and took formal notes of it.
The inspections concerned broadcasting of the meeting between the chairman of the political council of the “Opposition Platform - For Life”, MP Viktor Medvedchuk, and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
The National Council also issued several warnings for inciting hostility on the air, including through the marathon "Stale odor of Soros" and the announcement of the marathon "Revenge of Soros-puppies." For broadcast of the last program, the regulartor fined ZIK. The amount of the fine is 341 thousand 667 hryvnias. In addition, the channel "112 Ukraina" was to pay 114 thousand hryvnias of fine.
Representatives of ZIK and “112 Ukraina” did not come to the meeting because, according to members of the National Council, they had not been informed properly by the regulator and asked to postpone consideration of the issues after the quarantine was over.
"It is not the first time that Medvedchuk's channels play around with covid so as not to attend the National Council meeting," said Olga Gerasimyuk, the head of the regulator.
So the regulator considered the results of the inspection in absence of the representative of the TV channels.
It will be recalled that on October 6-8, NewsOne, “112 Ukraina” and ZIK aired programs and stories about a meeting between Viktor Medvedchuk, a MP and one of the leaders of the “Opposition Platform - For Life” party, and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. They spoke of establishment of relations between Russia and Ukraine, the supply of the Russian vaccine from СOVID-19 "Sputnik V" to Ukraine and the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the victory in the German-Soviet war.
As IMI reported, on November 26, 2020, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting ordered an unscheduled on-site inspection of ZIK TV channel (New Communications Television and Radio Company, Lviv) over incitement to hatred in the announcement of “Revenge of Soros-puppies” TV Marathon.
