Natalka Sedletska, editor-in-chief and host of Skhemy program, received the Freedom of the Media Award, set by the non-profit Transatlantic Leadership Network in USA.

The award ceremony took place on December 7 in Washington at the National Press Club, as  Radio Liberty reported.

Nataliya Sedlecka was distinguished " for her courageous stand against corruption within the government and judiciary in Ukraine."

Apart from Nataliya Sedletska, the award was also presented to Washington Post journalist and editor Jackson Diehl, Lebanese MTV director Michel El Murr, Qatari's Al Jazeera Media Network and its journalist  Fairouz Ziani, and publisher of the Bosnian newspaper Oslobodjenje Mujo Selimović.

“This award is an achievement that would have been impossible without the daily contribution of each member of the Schemes team, an Radio Svoboda investigative project. I hope that this award will also inspire young people, future journalists in Ukraine, to join and contribute to independent journalism to achieve a better quality of life and well-being of Ukrainians," Sedlecka said at the awards ceremony in Washington.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to remind about my colleague Vladyslav Yesypenko, a freelancer of Radio Svoboda, as well as a dozen other journalists who are currently held in prison in the Russian-occupied Crimea. Journalism is not a crime, ” Sedlecka added.

The Washington-based Transatlantic Leadership Network is a non-profit organization that brings together an international network of policy analysts, private sector leaders, journalists and academics.
