The Committee on Freedom of Speech is going to request an investigation into the case of press cards traffic on the Internet and, if proven, to bring the perpetrators to justice. The relevant decision was adopted at the meeting on July 1st, as UNN reported.

The secretary of the Committee Serhiy Shvets said that he had found an advertisement for the sale of a press cards on the Internet.

"At the same time, they cited the advantages provided by the status of a journalist, the media outlet that issues a certificate and the price of the service," the report said.

Serhiy Shvets is convinced that fake press cards could be used more often before the local elections.

"We protect journalists and it is unacceptable for anyone to trade in the journalist status," the committee chairman Nestor Shufrych said.
