Ministry of Defense adopts basic information and cyber security framework
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has passed a decree approving a basic framework of information security and cyber security in communication systems, as reported by the Ministry's press office.
“This means that all of the Ministry's systems, services, applications, and digital tools will have uniform, clearly defined cyber security rules. They will encompass NATO's best approaches, international standards and practices regarding information and cyber security," the Ministry of Defense noted.
The listed principles are based on the NATO Primary Directive on CIS Security and align with risk management approaches and international information security standards ("Information security, cyber security and privacy protection. Information security management system. Requirements").
"Amid the enemy's relentless cyber attacks, we must pay special attention to cyber security. Cyber security measures must be systematic and improve constantly. The new policy calls for a systematic review and update of the Ministry's cyber security requirements," stressed Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digitization, Digital Transformations, and Digital Development.
In March 2024, the Ministry of Defense initiated the search for a legislative definition of "cyber war".
The SBU reported earlier that Russia has launched a national cyber offensive program. Units of its special services are recruiting more hackers, GRU and FSB officers are taking business trips to military universities with programming departments. They also visit civilian polytechnic universities that teach special cyber offensive disciplines to senior students.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, SBU specialists have repelled almost 10,000 cyber attacks.
