MIA: Scammers mail out spyware posing as the Zakarpattia Commercial Court

20.09.2024, 15:09

Scammers are mailing out spyware posing as the Commercial Court of Zakarpattia, reports the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The letters claim that the court has "ruled to collect funds" from the addressee.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the criminals disguise the letters under the gov.ua domain and use the real names and addresses of the recepients.

A person receives what appears to be a PDF file that contains spyware. If they open the attachment, the scammers will gain remote access to their device.

To protect yourself from scammers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs advises:

  • not to use public email services on corporate computers;
  • not to open attachments in suspicious emails;
  • to ignore and delete such letters.

Earlier, scammers were sending out emails claiming there has been a missile attack on the Rivne NPP which caused an increase in radiation levels, posing as the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
