On the last weekend of summer, Cherkasy-based media professionals stepped away from their work chats and deadlines for a few hours and set off on a SUP boarding trip down the Dnipro. The recovery-focused event was organised by Mediabaza Cherkasy, the Institute of Mass Information’s regional hub, on 30 August.
The participants learned to handle SUP boards, chatted with colleagues in a casual setting, and saw off the last weekend of summer together.

The group included Olha Kviatkovska, chief of press at Cherkasy University of Technology, who has taken part in Mediabaza events before. She shared that, amid the constant whirlwind of events, phone calls, and deadlines, media workers often struggle to find time for themselves.
“You usually put off the ‘little joys’ for later, and ‘later’ has a habit of getting pushed back indefinitely. But the Mediabaza brought us colleagues together, stopped time, put us all on SUP boards, and let us drift with the current for a few hours. A few hours of finding a balance between body and soul, enjoying the scenery and the melody of the Dnipro’s waves. Moments like these bring people together, help them recover, and inspire them to get back to work with fresh energy,” Olha Kviatkovska said.

The “aquatic” outing also helped 18000 journalist Anastasia But recover. For her, the SUP boarding experience was something new.
“The event was a wonderful way to see off the summer, a chance to find some time for myself, to be alone with nature, to enjoy the sunset with no rush, to reflect, and to recharge,” Anastasia summed up.
