Media literacy maze opens in Cherkasy
A media literacy maze "Don't trust It, Check It", which aims to help Ukrainians build up resistance to disinformation and propaganda, has opened in Cherkasy, reports the press office of the Education and Humanitarian Policy Department of the Cherkasy City Council.
The maze is a movable structure the size of a one-story building which consists of 12 rooms. This is the first and one of a kind project in Ukraine.
"The themes of the maze's rooms are designed to help the visitors boost their information and media literacy, improve their critical perception skills, build resistance to external and internal influences, and learn to recognize manipulation and distinguish facts from value judgments," reports the local authorities.
The "Mriyemo ta Diyemo" program, which implemented the project, says that the maze can help the people of Cherkasy learn about:
- noise information and how to deal with it;
- the differences between facts and value judgments that will help avoid manipulation;
- methods of recognizing clickbait and populism in the media and on social media;
- how to check the sources of information and protect yourself from propaganda.
The media literacy maze consists of 12 rooms.
The maze opened on October 1 and will be open until October 8 on the square in front of the Center for Children's and Youth Creativity. Opening hours: from 11:00 to 20:00. Free admission.
