MCSC: Europan partners to include aid to Ukrainian media in EU internal discussions
European partners will include aid to Ukrainian media in the agenda of internal discussions in the EU, reports Detector Media, citing Andriy Nadzhos, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications for European Integration.
He noted that on February 18, the Ukrainian delegation took part in the conference “Faces of Russian Captivity” at the European Parliament in Brussels, which was organized with the support of a group of Polish MEPs.
On the same day, private consultations were held with the European External Action Service and the European Commission, in particular on the need to support Ukrainian media in view of the US assistance suspension.
“We submitted our position papers, made a presentation and explained that we are fully committed to helping our media community get through this period by attracting European funds. And, in my opinion, we have so far managed to fulfill our mission, since we did a lot of communication, with the European External Action Service first and foremost, about what programs and what mechanisms can compensate for the current situation. European colleagues told us that they were taking this information into account. They understand the challenge and it will now be on the agenda of internal discussions in the EU,” said the Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications.

US President Donald Trump has suspended funding for all projects by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for 90 days to review them and determine whether they align with his political goals. In Ukraine, USAID was supporting hundreds of various media projects.
The White House fired USAID inspector general Paul Martin.
Earlier, the media of Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Luhansk, Ternopil, and Volyn oblasts explained what danger the suspension of US grants poses to them.
