Makarov apoligizes for drawing attention in a way "unreflective of the situation"

Suspilne Broadcasting executive producer, prominent journalist Yuriy Makarov has apologized for the “anxiety and pain” caused by his injury. He is ashamed and upset to have “found himself in the spotlight in a way that is, to put it mildly, unreflective of the situation,” as per his Facebook post from May 21, which the journalist referred to as “an official statement, so to speak.”
“First of all, I want to apologize to those whom I have caused anxiety and pain with everything that has been happening to me in recent weeks. I am ashamed and upset to have found myself in the spotlight in a way that is, to put it mildly, unreflective of the situation. The last years and months have been a difficult time for me, involving a lot of challenges and experiences. This has made me question my own capabilities and the value of my contribution in many ways. At a critical moment, my family, friends and colleagues were there and were able to provide me with the necessary support and assistance despite everything,” he wrote.
He noted that the mental health challenges that Ukrainian society faces due to the war, in his case, overlap with the physiological changes that come with aging and discovering new conditions that will accompany his life.
"I am grateful to my colleagues at Suspilne Broadcasting for everything they have done. I am grateful to the law enforcers and doctors who performed their duties. I look forward to resuming the work that has been my life's mission as soon as I am able. I apologize again to every person I have hurt or inconvenienced. To anyone who would like to speak with me, I would be grateful if you would give me the opportunity to focus on my recovery in the near future," he wrote.

Yuriy Makarov, executive producer at Suspilne Broadcasting and a prominent journalist, was attacked and stabbed by an unknown man late on April 16.
The police later opened a case and shared the details of the attack on Yuriy Makarov. Law enforcers are looking into the theory that the attack could have had a pro-Russian trail.
Yuriy Makarov believes that the attack on him is most likely to have a “Russian trail” such as Russian intelligence aiming to demoralize society by attacking a public figure.
