Leader of Donetsk People’s Republic promised that newspapers «Donbass» and «Vecherniy Donetsk» would resume publication
On his press conference on June 3, the leader of the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic” Oleksander Borodai promised that the newspapers «Donbass» and «Vecherniy Donetsk» would resume publication and called the abduction of editors-in-chief of Donetsk newspapers «Donbass» and «Vecherniy Donetsk» Oleksander Bryzh and Leonid Lapa a deplorable excess. According to Ukrinform, the leaders of Donetsk People’s Republic hope for amicable relations with the journalists.
On June 2, armed representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic came to the editorial offices of the newspapers «Donbass» and «Vecherniy Donetsk» and took their editors-in-chief to an undisclosed location. Later, after a conversation at the HQ of Donetsk People’s Republic, they were released. Representatives of Donetsk People’s Republic demanded that the newspapers changed their editorial policies. Because of these demands, the newspapers closed down.
