Language quotas won't affect the work of foreign channels - a member of the National Council

20.03.2017, 15:37

The introduction of quotas on television won't affect the content of foreign channels, which are broadcasting in Ukraine. A member of the National Council on Television and Radio of Ukraine Sergey Kostinsky told in an interview to TV channel "Nastoyashchee vremia", reports RBC-Ukraine.

"The law applies to licensees of the National Council - residents of Ukraine, those channels basically has license to broadcast in Ukraine,"- said a member of the National Council.

Kostinsky said that if the foreign channel that has permission from the National Council to broadcast violates the Ukrainian legislation, the law on television and radio, the law on information, etc., or opposes the recognition of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the regulator has the right to limit its cable broadcasting in the country.

"But it still remains available on the satellite, thus are able to watch it online. It applies to limit state resources, which are public property - radio frequency resource, etc."- he stressed.
