Journalist of "Vesti" suffered eye burns as she tried to get her things from blocked office

13.03.2018, 17:59
Copy editor of newspaper “Vesti” Anastasia Rein sustained eye retina burns of first degree due to use of gas on her by an unknown man, when she returned to get her personal belongings from the office of media holding of “Vesti”. Anastasia Rein informed IMI about this. The incident took place on February 9, after the National Agency of Ukraine for detection, search and management of assets received from corruption and other crimes (ARMA), took control of the Vesti offices on floors 31, 32 and 33 of "Gulliver" trade center on February 8. The journalist said she did nothing to provoke the attack, but was sprayed with gas spray from the door when she bent down to tie her shoelaces. She had to seek medical help of an ophthalmologist.  The journalist considers this an obstruction to her journalist activities and will file an official complaint to the police.
