Journalist of "Poltavshchyna" receives death threats in social networks

25.05.2017, 22:05

Daryna Synytska, a journalist of the online media outlet “Poltavshchyna” Daryna Synytska received threats of rape and murder from the Facebook users Ruslan Zarubin, Vitaliy Soloniy and Danylo Plakhov. These users left their comments offering and encouraging such actions under the entry of Andriy Kniazev (callsign "Kniazhe"). “Detector.media” reports about this with a reference to the National Association of Journalists of Ukraine.

Andriy Kniazev accused Daryna Synytska of publishing personal information of activists and making them and their families targets of threat calls.

The head of the local branch of the National Association of Journalists Yevhen Lopushynskyi in his Facebook entry appeals to the law enforcement agencies to treat seriously the complaint that Daryna filed to the police about the threats and to investigate it properly. He also mentioned that even some journalists supported the people who threatened Daryna Synytska, and asks them to consider what exactly they are supporting, and appeals to all journalists to support Synytska instead.
