Journalist from Oleksandriya complained to the police about pressure of city mayor

Journalist from Oleksandriya and author of blog “Moya Oleksandriya”, Ruslan Havrylov, who was accused of tax evasion by the city mayor Stepan Tsapiuk on December 20, 2017, addressed local police with an official complaint about mayor's offence against him. the complaint regarding criminal offence based on part 1 and 2 of article 182 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and part 2 of article 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The journalist filed the official complaint on January 24 and filed a copy to IMI. The journalist complains about the city mayor, on multiple occasions, illegally collected and disseminated personal information about the journalist's property status and flow of funds on his bank account, and similar information about his relatives. In particular, Tsapiuk disseminated this information on December 20, 2017, during public hearings - property information about the journalist and his female relative. The mayor also disclosed this information on December 21, 2017, at the meeting of executive committee. When the journalist requested the bank if information on his account was officially inquired by the authorities, and the bank responded that no official request about funds flow in his account were made. From this, the journalist concluded that the mayor obtained this information illegally. The journalist states that such actions of the mayor had an intention of punishing the journalist for criticizing the mayor, and to prevent the criticism in the future.
