The regional Institute of Mass Information (IMI) hub Mediabaza Cherkasy organised a pysanka egg decorating workshop for journalists on 9 April. The event united local media workers around creativity, traditions, and casual communication.

The workshop was hosted by museum staff member Anastasia Lysenko; the participants made their own pysanka eggs and learned the symbolism and meanings of the traditional patterns.

“No need to be afraid of messing up. After all, when you work on a pysanka egg, you imbue it with certain meanings, charge it with positive energy, creating a warding charm,” Anastasia Lysenko said to inspire the workshop participants.

The workshop gave the media professionals an opportunity not only to their hand at a creative project, but also to unwind and spend time with their colleagues outside of their workplaces and deadlines.

18000 journalist Anastasia But shared that she had long dreamed of making her own pysanka egg, so she was happy to join the event.

“For me, making pysanka eggs is one of the most beautiful old Ukrainian traditions. I have long wanted to try and create a pysanka egg of my own to see whether I could make it my annual Easter habit and whether I should buy a wax stylus for myself. At the workshop, the coach explained each stage thoroughly and helped us with the process, so everything was clear even for beginners. In the end, I managed to make my own pysanka egg, and it felt special indeed,” said Anastasia But.
