International media are preparing a smear campaign targeting Ukraine's top leadership.

This was announced by the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council.

According to them, a series of materials comtaining disinformation against the military command and political leadership of Ukraine is planned to appear on English-language resources.

"They are being prepared by foreign journalists who have experience working in Russia, in particular around the time when Putin came to power. The purpose of such actions is to sow divide Ukrainian society," the report says.

In a comment to hromadske, Defense Intelligence representative Andriy Yusov specified that the Russian special services plan to attract experts, political scientists, public opinion leaders, and journalists with a background working in Russia. Those may provide expert comments, articles or reports supporting Russian narratives in one way or another.

"The kinds of content may be different. We are not talking about just one material, but about an influx, a series of them, and those can differ from one another. Namely, they will touch on specific names in the military command and political leadership of our country," the intelligence representative said.

Yusov added that the outbreak of this disinformation wave is planned to happen "at an extremely important period" when partners are making key decisions regarding support for Ukraine.

"This will be something new. Most likely, it will be another compilation of facts and stereotypes that will be exploited by opponents of continued support for Ukraine as an argument for their actions," he added.
