Independence of the Supervisory Board of the public broadcaster is of crucial importance for the reform of public broadcasting - statement of the Special Advisor to Council of Europe's Secretary General for Ukraine

The Council of Europe states that the independence of the Supervisory Board of JSC "National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine" (JSC NSTU) is crucial for the reform of public broadcasting. 

The statement noted by the Special Representative of the Secretary General in Ukraine Regis Brie that the Council of Europe will support Ukraine in the reform of public broadcasting and welcomes the progress achieved.

"The process for selecting the head and members of the Management Board of the National Public Broadcasting Unit (NBPU) should be transparent and free of political interference. The independence of the NBPU Supervisory Board is of crucial importance for advancing the reform in line with the European standards," - the statement notes.
