In Odesa, channel 7 reported about obstructions

08.08.2020, 00:52

In Odesa, on August 5, journalists of local channel 7 were obstructed.

As it was reported at the website of the TV channel, the incident took place near the building of the communal enterprise “Housing Communal Association “Porto-Frankivskyi”.

Near the building of the enterprise, janitors protested demanding to pay them outstanding salaries.

“In some time, protesters were approached by vice-director of the enterprise and forced everyone to get inside. People were forbidden to speak on camera, threatening to fire them. When our filming crew tried to follow them inside, some employees of the institution started threatening journalists”, the channel informs.

As IMI representative in Odeska oblast clarified, the filming crew that suffered these obstructions were cameraman Yevhen Yachmentsev and journalist Ivanna Herasymchuk.

The editorial office decided not to file official complaints to the police because they do not believe the police will do anything to investigate and act on the complaint.
