In Mykolayiv, journalists left press conference "Narodny Front", which supported Putin and accused them of lies

16.03.2014, 00:03

In Mykolayiv, representatives of local media outlets left the press conference of the so called “Narodny Front” (the movement that at its rallies encourages disobeying to the new authorities) after its speakers started to accuse journalists of lies and corruption.  This organization supports the Russian military intervention to Crimea and conducting of the referendum concerning the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. They used the same rhetoric – 'fascist coup', 'necessity of federalization' and 'Ukrainian neo-Nazis prohibit the Russian language' at the press conference on Wednesday, March 12. Although, they failed to present any proof for their claims. The organizers of the press conference denied that there were any threats against journalists  made by participants of their rallies, but it was the journalists who received such treats that participated in the press conference. But the organizers denied that there was any pressure exerted against the journalists and instead accused the representatives of media outlets of lies and corruption. After that the correspondents of the online media outlets Egalite, Mukola.net, NikVesti, Prestupnosti.net, Mykolayiv Business, Verchirniy Mykolayiv and Partner-Inform left the press conference to express their protest against blatant lies and fueling of interethnic hatred and their refusal to proliferate it through their media outlets.
