In Mykolayiv, activist of Liashko’s party attacked journalist during press conference

On June 19, in Mykolayiv an activist of the Radical Party attacked the correspondent of the media outlet «Prestupnosti.NET» Kateryna Vovchenko. The incident happened during the press conference of Mykolayiv oblast governor Mykola Romanchuk, the formed head of the oblast department of forestry Petro Palamaruik and the head of the state agency Valeriy Cherniakov.

The activist of Oleh Liashko’s Radical party, who was wearing a t-shirt with a party logo did not like that the journalist was reporting to the editorial office by phone during the event.

The man wanted to switch off her phone and pushed her in the back and tried to take her phone away. This was reported by the correspondent of the local online media outlet “Nikvesti”, who was standing next to Vovchenko and tried to protect her. A brawl started with participation of other journalists and police officers.

The police officers took the activist out and interrogated the journalists, who were in the audience hall during the incident. Later the attacker apologized to the journalist and said he did not know who she was.
