In Mariupol, editor of newspaper "Khochu v SSSR" Serhiy Dolhov was beaten and abducted

 In Mariupol, on June 18 the editor-in-chief of the newspapers «Vestnik Priazovia» and «Khochu v SSSR» (‘I Want Back to the USSR’) Serhiy Dolhov was abducted. This was reported on the website of the National Journalists Union of Ukraine with reference to his wife and co-worker Olha Dolhova. According to Dolhova, this happened around 1 p.m. Six unidentified masked men in civil clothing armed with machine guns stormed the editorial office of «Vestnik Priazovia». They beat Dolhov and took away all computers. There were three other staff members, whom the attackers told under the barrel of guns not to move. The attackers tied Dolhov’s hands with wire and took him away to an unknown direction.

The staff believes the abduction is related to the newspaper «Khochu v SSSR», which was recently dubbed in other media outlets as «separatist». But, according to them, it publishes no political materials, only historical articles of nostalgic value for the older generation.

Dolhov’s colleagues think he might have been abducted by members of Mariupol battalion ‘Azov’.

The batallion’s vide-commander in charge of public relations Ihor Mosiychuk made a statement that the battalion ‘Azov’ had nothing to do with the beating and abduction of the editor-in-chief of the newspaper «Khochu v SSSR» Serhiy Dolhov. He believes it may have been a result of the conflict between different separatist groups.
