In Korosten (Zhytomyr region) at the single member district #64 four persons were detained who presented themselves as the journalists for “Television and radio company Zhytomyr Novyny”. The police is to verify legality of press cards, as Vyacheslav Pechenenko, chief of the Main directorate of the National police in Zhytomyr region,

"In Korostensky dictrict, they identified and brought to the police four men who misrepresented themselves as the journalists. According to preliminary information, these persons do not have any relation to any mass media. Their press cards had signs of forgery. Thus, at present, elucidation of all facts and defining the legal qualification of this fact is underway," Vyacheslav Pechenenko said.
He added that these individuals were not journalists and urged not to speak about the suppression of freedom of speech.
"There is another message circulating to which we have to respond to and give an official position of the police on this issue: some media outlets and some deputies are now saying that instead of response to breaches of the electoral process, the police allegedly began to detain the journalists, deliver them to the police stations, does not allow the lawyers to see those journalists and so on. I bring to notice from the primary source: in Korostensky electoral district, four persons, so-called "journalists", were taken to the Police station. The preliminary verification has found that they had nothing in common with any media. And the press cards were false - the both persons had it with the same serial number. We firmly assert that those persons are not the journalists, they are crooks. At present, the police is to define qualification of the proceeding. Probably, the criminal proceedings over forgery of documents is to be started, and they will be subject to criminally responsibility.
