In Kharkiv, unidentified individuals set newspaper office on fire using "Molotov cocktails"

12.01.2015, 17:04

On January 11, in Kharkiv, unidentified individuals threw bottles with flammable mixture into windows of the office of the all-Ukrainian newspaper "Slovyanka". The local website 057.ua informs about this.

As the newspaper founder Volodymyr Abramenko said, at about 2.20 p.m. twenty men wearing masks first broke the editorial office’ window with stones, then threw bottles with "Molotov cocktails" inside. The staff immediately called police and fire brigade.

As Abramenko says, they received threats several times before. Those who threatened claimed that the newspaper is a separatist one, and demanded to close it down.  Yet, according to Abramenko, they never actually called to separatism. The attackers left graffiti "Lies prevention" on the building.
