General Staff and the NSDC call on Ukrainians to follow the rules of information verification and publication

13.06.2022, 11:40

The National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine call for compliance with the rules of information verification and publication.

This was announced by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

"The National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine appeal to the civilian population, the leaders of public opinion, and journalists. Our enemy is waging an information war against every Ukrainian. Every day they generate dozens of fakes about the capitulation of our defenders, about them voluntarily surrendering their positions and being unwilling to fight for their homeland. Therefore, we urge you to follow the simple rules of information verification and publication," the statement reads.

Ukrainians are encouraged to verify information through official departments before trusting it and spreading it; not to disseminate materials from "personal sources" related to the events on the frontline; refrain from public assessments of hostilities, logistics, etc., because only the top military leadership has complete information from the battlefield and can make reliable forecasts; as well as to only trust official sources.

"Remember, by spreading unverified information, you are helping the enemy to demoralize the Ukrainian defenders and sow panic among the civilian population! Do not become a tool in the enemy's hands. Work for the state, not against it!" the statement reads.
