Former PTV UA cameraman Arthur Shybalov killed in combat

20.03.2025, 14:13

Arthur Shybalov from Poltava, a PTV UA cameraman and video editor turned soldier, was killed in action in the Kursk region (Russia) on March 13, his mother Tetyana Shybalova announced on Facebook.

“You had totally different plans for your life. You wanted to make movies and write books. You studied for this for a long time. But it was unthinkable to you to hide and not rise to the challenge. My sunshine has gone out,” wrote Tetyana Shybalova.

Poltavska Dumka chief editor Diana Strashko shared her memories of working together with Arthur Shybalov. She says Arthur enlisted in 2024, aged 26.

“We worked together for several years, starting around 2017. He edited videos, learning everything from scratch. But eventually he mastered the video camera, too. Arthur was kind, he never said no. I was touched to learn that he wanted to become a writer, and we didn’t know that. Recently, he posted about his first official refusal from a publisher on his social media,” the journalist recalls.

According to the Institute of Mass Information, Arthur Shybalov is the 101st media professional to die as a result of Russia's full-scale aggression.
