In Rozivsky rayon of Zaporizka oblast, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Roz-Inform” Liudmyla Podrez was fired from her position and the acting editor-in-chief was appointed without the staff’s consent. Currently, the three staff journalists are unable to issue the newspaper. This was reported by “Detector Media” with reference to the press service of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.
According to Liudmyla Podrez, an illegal takeover of the newspaper is taking place, “a couple of days ago, the newly appointed editor came over to the editorial office, tried to take the seal and get access to the editorial email ”. Also, she said the rayon authorities gave an instruction to the printing workshop, with which the newspaper has been cooperating, not to print it.
The conflict between the rayon council and the editorial office of “Roz-Inform” has been going on for about a year: the former vice-head of the rayon council demanded that the newspaper were shown to her before going to press. Later, the editorial office had problems with shifting out of the state ownership and its editor-in-chief was fired. Still, “Roz-Inform” made it to the published list of mass media as participants of the first stage of the reform.
The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine points out that the head of Zaporizka oblast state administration Kostiantyn Bryl attempted to interfere in the situation and promised that the illegal actions of rayon officials would be investigated and that he would not let anyone ro exert pressure on mass media, but the situation is still the same.
