Doctors observe improvement in Ivan Lyubysh-Kirdey's state
The doctors observe improvement in the health of the Ukrainian photographer, Reuters war correspondent Ivan Lyubysh-Kirdey, who was wounded on August 24 in Kramatorsk, reports his wife Maria Semenchenko.
She notes that Ivan is still mostly unconscious, but hears her voice and "mostly understands things."
Maria Semenchenko says that yesterday Ivan squeezed her hand upon her request.
"Then I asked if he recognized me, his Mariyka? He squeezed again. And then he reached up and touched my face and hair, then took my hand in his and fell asleep again," wrote Maria.
She quoted the doctor as saying that as of now, Ivan's life is not in danger.
"We need to wait for him to wake up from the coma, and then treat him, take care of him, rehabilitate him, and we all love him very much. So we keep faith in the best," wrote Maria.

The Russian missile strike on the Sapphire Hotel in Kramatorsk on August 24, 2024 killed Ryan Evans, a safety advisor with the British news agency Reuters. Other two members of the Reuters team were injured and hospitalized. Reuters cameraman Ivan Lyubysh-Kirdey was severely wounded. The National Police notes that Russia struck the hotel where a crew of foreign reporters was staying with an Iskander-M missile.
The international watchdog Reporters Without Borders (RSF) condemns the Russian attack and called for a thorough investigation to identify the culprits and prosecute them.
