Conscripted Novyny.LIVE correspondent Bohdan Zatula killed in combat

Bohdan Zatula, a Kharkiv-based Novyny.LIVE correspondent who had been conscripted, was killed in combat, reports the online news outlet.

Bohdan enlisted in the Ukrainian Armed Forces on July 31, 2024. The journalist was killed in a mass shelling strike on August 26, the editors note.

Bohdan Zatula joined the Novyny.LIVE team in May 2024. He covered the events in his homecity Kharkiv, filmed the aftermath of the invaders' attacks, recording the crimes committed by the Russian troops.

"...Our colleague was a talented and hardworking journalist. […] We remember Bohdan as a kind and friendly person, he never refused to help. The Novyny.LIVE team expresses our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased," writes Novyny.LIVE.

In a comment to the regional representative of the Institute of Mass Information, the Novyny.LIVE team clarified that Bohdan had died in Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

Bohdan Zatula reported for "Focus" until 2021 and was a news feed editor at ZN.UA in 2023, as reported by both media outlets on their websites. According to ZN.UA, in the army he was a material service clerk of a military unit.

Zatula also worked as a journalist in the online media "KHARKIV". According to the publication, his death was reported by the journalist's friend Ruslan Zernytsky.

"Bohdan was mobilized in late July 2024. His friends lost contact with him after a while. Later it turned out that Bohdan and other soldiers died by Russian shelling in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. He had not reached the front line," the media outlet writes.

Bohdan was 28 years old. He was buried on the Alley of Glory in Kharkiv.

According to the Institute of Mass Information, Bohdan Zatula is the 86th media worker to die as a result of Russia's full-scale aggression.
