Communist regime propagandist in Ivano-Frankivsk sentenced to five years in prison
The court sentenced an Ivano-Frankivsk based russian native to five years in prison, finding her guilty of propaganda and public use of symbols of the totalitarian communist regime (Parts 1, 2 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
This was announced by the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
In court, the prosecutor proved that between 2019 and 2022, the accused has been systematically distributing and publicly using content depicting the symbols of the totalitarian communist regime on the banned social network Vkontakte.
"She popularized the ideas of a USSR revival and restoration and justified its criminal regime, as well as glorified Lenin and Stalin. According to the findings of the forensic linguistic examination, she was promoting the totalitarian communist regime with such posts," the announcement reads.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the Soviet Union supporter acquired Ukrainian citizenship in 2015 and has been living in Ivano-Frankivsk.
