Statement in support of Ukrainian colleagues

The Belarusian Association of Journalists expresses solidarity with all journalists who continue to perform their professional duty in the conditions of the war unleashed by the Kremlin.
We admire the work of Ukrainian colleagues who, under heavy fire, continue to carry out their functions, risking their lives.

We are proud of Belarusian reporters who stayed in Ukraine to tell the truth about the crimes of the Russian aggressors to the Belarusian and world audience.

Belarusian independent journalists and our Ukrainian colleagues have always demonstrated close cooperation. We implemented journalism programs together, defended reporters together, and supported each other while working on the Maidan in 2014 and on the streets of Minsk in 2020. We stay together today. You can absolutely rely on our support.

The actions of the Belarusian authorities should not be associated with the stance of the Belarusian people. Even under threat of persecution, Belarusians support Ukraine. They report the truth about the war in their media, organise peaceful protests and go to prison for doing so, collect humanitarian aid and help evacuate Ukrainians.

The Belarusian Association of Journalists supports Ukrainian colleagues and Ukraine and calls on the journalistic community to express ultimate solidarity with the Ukrainian media.
