«Aidar» detained Luhansk journalist Oksana Lashchonova, which is accused of supporting terrorists

27.08.2014, 00:14

On August 25, in the city of Shchastia of Luhanska oblast the territorial defense battalion «Aidar» detained journalist Oksana Lashchonova, who has recently been working as an editor-in-chief of the newspaper «Luhanska Pravda» and a correspondent for the Russian media outlet pravda.ru. She is accused of supporting the terrorists. According to ‘Aidar’, Lashchonova has been long serving the interests of the Party of Regions, inciting anti-Ukrainian attitudes, and supporting the terrorist organization Luhansk People’s Republic.

According to the local branch of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine, in the recent days Lashchonova was staying in Kyiv and went to Luhansk to pick up clothing for her child, whom she intended to send to school in Kyiv. She was detained when she was returning from Luhansk. Currently, her whereabouts are unknown. The Committee of Voters of Ukraine has sent a request about her to the battalion ‘Aidar’ but still has received no answer.
