Russian troops ruined 180 schools in Ukraine completely; in total, over 1.3 thousand educational institutions have been destroyed and damaged.

This was reported by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovy, at a press conference, writes Ukrinform.

"As of today, the number of completely ruined schools alone is 180. Over 300 educational institutions have been destroyed, more than 1,000 educational institutions have been damaged and must be inspected to determine to whether they can be rebuilt or not," said Lisovy.

He reminded that the government has allocated UAH 1.5 billion to build more shelters before the new school year. According to him, three in every four schools have shelters of varying degrees of safety and quality.

"75% of schools are equipped with shelters, but this does not mean that 75% of students can go back to school. This is about 9 thousand schools, and we have 13 thousand schools in total. For us, getting students back to studying offline is a priority, we restore offline studying whererever safety permits. In the regions that are close to the war zone, the studying will be remote," said Lisovy.

The Minister also added that the Ministry of Education recommends universities to go back to offline education as well, given that this does not violate the safety requirements, in order to provide better quality education. According to the Minister, the planning of many universitites allows to create shelters there, but not everywhere such shelters have enough room for all students.

Furthermore, Lisovy said that teacher migration was another problem which can impede the restoration of classroom teaching. Therefore, he added, the management of universities will decide whether to go back to offline learning at their own discretion.

We remind you that Ukraine is developing concepts for the reconstruction of destroyed schools.
