SBI searching Public Broadcaster’s office

30.08.2019, 15:09
The State Bureau of Investigations together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) are searching the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine and home of several of its employee, as “Detektor Media” reported referring to SBU spokeswoman Olena Hitlyanska. Searches take place at six locations. According to some sources, “Detektor Media” reported that searches are taking place, in particular, at the head of the NPTU board Zurab Alasania. The latter is currently not answering phone calls. It is also reported that the SBI had previously investigated cases of possible misappropriation of NPTU funds by its former executive director, Alexander Liyev. Liyev told the “Detektor Media” that he was unaware of the searches and criminal proceedings being investigated by the SBI. According to him, there was an old criminal case, opened on the statement of one of the deputies from the “Renaissance” group. “It is not closed, but it is a complete nonsense, it is farfetched. He complained, for example, that we bought equipment at overcharge prices. But everything was going through tenders through Prozorro, ”said Liyev. The Hromadske also informed about the searches at the NPTU office . Volodymyr Protsenko, security official at the National Public Television and Radio Company of Ukraine, informed Hromadske that people who did neither give their names, nor provided any court ruling with the permission to carry out investigative actions came to the NPTU office. According to him, those persons came to one of the accounting offices and were trying to drive out employees without  any explanation.
